On this page we frequently post developments related to the DIAGMAL project and provide you with an overview of major events in the field of malaria. The DIAGMAL consortium is not directly involved in the organization of these events and we only provide this overview as a service to the Malaria Community. Organizations that are interested in having their events listed on this page can contact us. Only not-for-profit events in the field of malaria, diagnosis and/or infectious diseases will be posted

EVENTS

The 69th Annual Meeting of the American Society for Tropical Medicine will be held as an on-line event from 15 to 19 November 2020. For more information: astmh.org/annual-meeting/2020-annual-meeting

The 13th European Multicolloquium of Parasitology will take place in Belgrade (Servia) from 29th of June to 3rd of July 2021. For more information: emop2020.org

The 20th International Congress for Tropical Medicine and Malaria will be held in Bangkok (Thailand), 17-21 August 2021. For more information: ictmm2020.org

The 12th European congress on Tropical Medicine and International Health will be held 27 September to 1 October 2021 in Bergen (Norway). For more information see: ectmih2021.no

Dr. Henk Schallig received Pearl Award
On 19 November, during World Antimicrobial Awareness Week, ZonMw awarded a “Parel” (Pearl Award) to Dr. Henk Schallig, the coordinator of DIAGMAL. He received the award for the RAPDIF study, which developed better tools and knowledge for tackling fever and malaria in Africa, a collaborative project between Clinical Research Unit of Nanoro (led by Professor Halidou Tinto) and Amsterdam UMC.

Dr. Henk Schallig received the prestigious pearl award from Health Research Netherlands – ZonMW

Malaria report 2020 The World health Organization has published the year 2020 World Malaria report. The 2020 edition takes a historical look at key milestones that helped shape the global response to the disease over the last 2 decades – a period of unprecedented success in malaria control. The report features a detailed analysis on progress towards the 2020 milestones of WHO’s global malaria strategy and a special section on malaria and the COVID-19 pandemic
